Vernadsky's office-museum

Soon after the burial ceremony of Vernadsky the Presidium of the Science Academy of the USSR considered it expediant to organize Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky's office-museum. As soon as the Vernadsky' house in Old Arbat was subject to demolition, the office-museum was placed in a newly constructed building for the Laboratory for Geochemical Problems (in 1947 transformed into the V.I.Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of the Science Academy of the USSR).
A complete and detailed description of Vernadsky's office made it possible to recreate it in a future museum. The display includes a desk, arm-chairs, an ottoman, bookcases, an ancient bureu desk, Vernadsky's library, which included about 7,000 items, albums with photos. The walls all over the office-museum are covered with photographs and portraits of V.I.Vernadsky's relatives, friends and colleagues.
