Museum of the People's Artist A.M.Gerasimov

This two-storey brick house is situated in one of the streets in
Michurinsk, named after Alexander M.Gerasimov. It was built by painter's father Mikhail Gerasimov in 1886. In this house Alexander spent his childhood and youth and lived here with his parents after the October revolution. In 1925 A.Gerasimov moved to Moscow. But he annually visited his native town. In 1961 A.Gerasimov was here for the last time. The Museum of the famous painter Alexander Gerasimov was opened here on March 15, 1977. It includes a coach-house and a barn, where since 1930 there was a painter's studio.
Beside there is a terrace, where he liked to work. The original things which belonged to Gerasimov's family - furniture, documents and photos, are collected in the museum. A bronze bust of A.Gerasimov by the prominent sculpture Ye.Vuchetich was placed in Michurinsk in 1981.
