Stud-farms of the Tambov region
The Novotomnikovsky stud
is situated in the Morshansk district of the Tambov region.
It was founded in 1859 by the well-famous owner of a stud, the count
I.I.Vorontsov-Dashkov. Firstly there
were breeding the Orlov trotters in this stud and since 1890 there
was started the work with the use of thoroughbred saddle-horses (Boyar and
Voltizher) and the best American trotters. The Orlov and American half-breds
were of importance in the Russian trotter breeding. In 1920 the Novotomnikovsky
stud restarted the Orlov trotter breeding. The ancestor
of a new progressive line of the Orlov breed became the stallion Otboy
2.14,1 (Burelom-Opora). The stud-farm and manor-house complex in
Tomnikovo remained till nowadays as the historical and architectural memorial.
The Lavrovsky stud is placed in the Mordovsky
district of the Tambov region. It was established in 1842 by
V.P.Voeykov and at present specializes in the Russian trotter breeding.
Such champions as the stallions Podarok 2.02,1
(Aloisha-Paguba) and Pervenets 2.00,4 (Podarok-Massandra),
the mare Protalinka 2.07,5 (Liutsifer-Parallel) were bred in the
Lavrovsky stud. The stallion Podarok was the ancestor of the Russian trotter
progressive line. After the World War II a new beautiful trottal horse breed
was raised in the Lavrovsky stud. More than 40 international prizes are won
by the Lavrovsky stud trotters.
